First off, sincere apologies for allowing spam to go unchecked during the last month or so. The notification I configured for this stopped working, and I didn't realize it until now. As of now, all of the spam that was reported in this thread has been cleared out, along with the offending members.
f/y/i for those that suggest banning by ip address, in many cases that's not effective.
We do ban, but we use different criteria depending upon the source.
A few IMPORTANT reminders:
1. Please don't reply to SPAM. Ever. The spammers never read it, and even if they did, they would take great pleasure in the knowledge that people were actually reading their junk.
2. Read #1 again.
3. If you do reply to spam, you run the risk of accidentally being flagged as the spammer, and could end up having your ID and posts deleted.
And a small change in procedure:
All we need is the offending member's ID. We don't need a link to the post, we can glance at the post before we delete the member. The id and all of the content will be purged.
Also, please don't cut and paste the content of the spam messages here. We'll take your word that it's a nastygram.
much happiness to all...
